About Native Plant Landscaping

Hi, I'm Phyllis, and I'm Wild About Natives... plants and wildlife that is! For as long as I can remember, I've always loved nature and the outdoors. Being born and raised in southeast Florida, I hold a special place for the unique flora and fauna, especially Florida native plants, that our state has to offer. I spent many years working in conservation, land management, and environmental education with the Florida Park Service, where I gained extensive hands-on experience in protecting and restoring natural landscapes. Through this work, I developed a deep understanding of Florida’s native and non-native plants, including the best methods for removing invasive species and replacing them with Florida-friendly and native plants. My background has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary for effective landscape restoration, helping to create healthier ecosystems that support local wildlife habitats and thrive for generations to come. My passion lies in preserving our native landscapes and restoring what has been lost to development. I believe that by bringing back these lost wild places—one yard at a time—we can create vital habitats for wildlife and reconnect people with the natural world.
